Rupandehi, The Nepal Trade Union Congress (NTUC), with the assistance of Japan International Labour Foundation (JILAF), distributed winter garments to children here on Thursday.
The Nepali Congress-aligned trade union gave away warm clothes to the children affiliated to non-formal child education programme implemented by NTUC in Butwal.
The NTUC has been implementing a three-year non-formal child literacy programme in nine districts of the country to support low-income workers’ kids and child labourers in providing primary level education.
It is noted that the programme is in place in Rupandehi, Palpa, Nawalparasi, Kaski, Kailali, Bhaktapur, Bara, Parsa and Morang districts.
NTUC central vice-president Yogendra Kunwar informed that the programme has been operated to encourage low-income workers to educate their children and increase school enrollment of child labourers.
